Making the decision to get help is a big first step, but for me the bigger first step was finding someone I could trust and with whom I could feel comfortable sharing what I was feeling. Thankfully someone referred me to Rachel Pollack. She truly listened to what I was saying, and helped me refocus my thoughts, make mental space to work through my grief and sadness and come out stronger.

I am so very grateful for the support I received from Rachel during an incredibly challenging time in my life. Rachel empowered me to trust myself as I made the difficult decision to leave my marriage and help me navigate my way in the face of this life changing journey. Rachel’s empathy, intuition, and genuine care were truly impactful as I dealt with this new reality, especially parenting my daughter with severe mental illness as well as my son who was in crisis. Rachel helped me believe in my own inner strength, embrace my life circumstances, and find authentic joy, which I carry with me to this day.

I was Rachel's colleague at Jewish Family Services of Clifton/Passaic for several years. As a board certified general and geriatric psychiatrist, I found Rachel to be an extremely competent, compassionate and dedicated therapist/social worker. Some of the cases on which we overlapped involved serious psychiatric problems as well as end-of-life issues. In every case and on every occasion, Rachel provided understanding, comfort and relief to her clients. It is without hesitation that I give my unreserved endorsement to Rachel Pollak, LCSW.

Thank you for being a tremendous support to my mother as she aged and was confronted with many physical and mental challenges. You listened, empathized and worked with our entire family to help us each have a better understanding of our many feelings and emotions. Your compassion, expertise and guidance, enabled this difficult time to be one filled with growth, respect and love.

When my husband died, Rachel helped to lift me out of my grief. Her weekly sessions kept me mindful of how to navigate the changes in my life. Even though it’s been almost two years, and the loss continues, Rachel’s presence helps to bring me greater peace of mind.
